Seeking counselling, perhaps for the first time, is not always an easy decision. It can take courage to make contact with a counsellor – and speak about what’s concerning you. But those who have experienced the process often feel a profound sense of liberation, as well as great contentment, as a result.

Axe Vale Counselling is conveniently located just off the A35 between Axminster and Honiton, and close to the Dorset and Somerset borders.

Coronavirus statement
I am closely following government advice on how we should all behave in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic. After careful consideration, I have decided to continue to offer my clients face-to-face sessions, should they prefer them. My counselling room enables a metre distance between counsellor and client and I will ensure that surfaces are regularly disinfected and the toilet is stocked with soap and clean towels. If I develop any symptoms, I will of course notify clients immediately and enter into a period of self-isolation, during which, dependent on the severity of my symptoms, I will offer clients telephone or FaceTime sessions.

If you are an existing client, you may decide that you would prefer not to attend a face-to-face session, which is totally understandable. In which case, you may prefer to switch to telephone or FaceTime sessions. You may also decide that this method is not for you. In which case, it may be useful to discuss a managed ending to your counselling, with the understanding that, should circumstances change, you can of course return to therapy.

With blanket news coverage of whole towns and cities being locked down, of people being kept in quarantine or having to self-isolate for weeks, there is understandably a lot of anxiety about the virus. If you are finding it difficult to cope and think counselling could help, please do get in touch.

Should the government advice on contact change, I will of course update this statement immediately.
